The massive online reaction on Gmail’s recent outage – just about 30 minutes – sounded like the end of the Net and proves how huge the number of its users is. Google says only 2% were affected – 2% of 350 million users, and of course not all 2% reacted. Majority of working netizens just can’t live without Gmail. The lesson: make sure you have another work email service account for backup. I have two.

By the way, I don’t like the way the new Gmail looks and works so I authored a petition (coincidentally just 2 days before Gmail outage) requesting that it be srapped. If you share the same opinion, please vote for the petition here:
